Normal service...from my friend's back garden, a weed gone to seed.
This blog is all about the trials of an amateur kitchen gardener in Bristol, UK. If to be lazy is to be immature, then to grow your own food is surely the peak of maturity? Time to 'man up' and live the Good Life

The Hapless Kitchen Gardener
- Hapless gardener
- Bristol
- I only feel hapless because some people make it look easy to grow 10 ft marrows or a banquet of greens whereas my courgettes got nabbed by killer slugs and I only got one raspberry. So tips and stories from people less hapless than I are more than welcome. That is so pretty. I vote this weed should stay.
Is it really a weed?
Esther
Our definition of the weed can be flexible, surely? If you like it (e.g. because it has visual appeal), then it is not a weed. The one in your photo has visual appeal - ergo, it is not a weed.
What is it, anyway?
Esther/Mark, it's definitely a weed, it was growing on the edge of a path, where it wasn't meant to and wasn't planted. Mark, i don't think there's scope for weed favouritism here, you either are one or you're not. My hope is that we gardeners will accept it's not bad to be a weed...but I have no idea what this particular one is. Laura, I agree, this weed should stay! Love the vote to keep idea too
