Weeders Digest

This page is designed for new readers, lazy readers or people who want all killer no filler. That's right, take my hand and I'll lead you through the my garden blog maze right to the things you want to know about.

Birds of a teather

My teather. Yes birds and I have been in a power struggle all spring and summer. I kicked off the blog with Angry.Birds, my first episode of bird rage, followed up with the four-part Battle of Bristol (intent, assault, victory, aftermath). I'm now an emotional mess.

A friend in weed
As a novice gardener I understood weeds to be bad. Yet, in my brief experience I've discovered them to be misunderstood. And having spent a bit of time getting to know them, I realise that they are also hapless, iron-tough, kaliedescopic, and even shy.

Rocket fuel

Even if you've never grown anything in your life you must try this. Windsill rocket ready in just days. I called it my rocket challenge and readers were given updates with breaking rocket news. Unfortunately they were also subjected to Craig David.

In my element

Weather had a habit of creating absolute havoc this year. Yet it's fundamental to whether we get blushing fruit of green tomato chutney at the end of summer. I found it to be challengingdestructive and most of all, upsetting until a sunflower saved my summer.

Filth
Innuendos, puns and titilating humour. It's all part of the service.

What's all the fuss?

Have you ever grown something you don't like to eat? No, of course not, there's no sense in that. Unless, like me you have the sense of a bull in a Chinese china shop adorned with the national flag. Yes, throw me a challenge and I'll snort and kick the ground in anticipation. So it was that I grew peas and tomatoes to see if years of stubborn and fussy behaviour could be overcome.

Hot topic
Oh yes, I'm not one to retreat into the garden when the press come calling on your voicemail or rioters are afoot. Where better to put the world into context, and dare I say, to understand what's going on than by understanding nature itself.

Food for the soul...
...that would be music, and no other gardening blog gives you such a range of music gems tenuously linked to my gardening exploits. Revel in country, hip hop, rock, R&B and indie. And if you're not ready for any of that you can always enjoy your children's favourites in the Night Garden. Yes, it's all here.Promoting Grow your Own through music and culture. As a taster, here's what you can do if you have your own garden slope, make your own cheese, have a video camera and play a mean drum beat:

Interacting with the reader

It all started with Reader's chives...

This is not the place to come to show off your gardening prowess. It is, however, a chance for you to champion the darker side of gardening - the pests, trouble makers and predatory, also known as ROGUES! And I have an ever growing gallery-full

And should you wish to open up to your fellow gardeners about what it feels like when you're out there battling the birds, slaying the slugs, tasting the tomatoes and picking the peas, then you can bare all in the
Guest Bed. It's where guest writers choose a feeling that has hit them whilst gardening and share it as part of a collection to show that gardening isn't just a pass-time, it's life...

And the most popular post of all time...
A little Welsh murder mystery....

The Hapless Kitchen Gardener

My photo
Bristol
I only feel hapless because some people make it look easy to grow 10 ft marrows or a banquet of greens whereas my courgettes got nabbed by killer slugs and I only got one raspberry. So tips and stories from people less hapless than I are more than welcome.
